Zoning Districts tell you the rules for each zoning district in the selected geography, and provide individual district polygons. Zoning Slices flatten those polygons into a single non-overlapping layer: wherever a base district and one or more overlays coincide, we merge them into one polygon (a Slice) and compute the prevailing regulations for that Slice. Zoning Districts show what each district says; Zoning Slices resolve differing regulations to show what governs a given geography.

Every zoning district carries an overlay field: TRUE for overlay districts, and FALSE for base districts. Our Data Dictionary for Zoning Districts documents this field and the rest of the schema.

All Zoning Districts are delivered in WGS84 (EPSG:4326).

It depends on where the data will appear. Embedding Zoning Districts in an internal tool or platform is permitted under our standard Data Licensing Agreement. Public-facing portals and subscriber-based portals fall outside of our standard agreement; if you're planning either, contact us and we'll discuss custom license terms.
